وَمَا كَانَ صَلَاتُهُمْ عِندَ ٱلْبَيْتِ إِلَّا مُكَآءً وَتَصْدِيَةً ۚ فَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ بِمَا …

Quran 8:35 is ayah 35 of Surah Al-Anfal (“The Spoils of War”), a Medinan surah of 75 ayahs. It is in Juz 9, on page 181 of the Madani Mushaf.

وَمَاكَانَصَلَاتُهُمْعِندَٱلْبَيْتِإِلَّامُكَآءًوَتَصْدِيَةً ۚفَذُوقُوا۟ٱلْعَذَابَبِمَاكُنتُمْتَكْفُرُونَ٣٥
wamā kāna ṣalātuhum ʿinda l-bayti illā mukāan wataṣdiyatan fadhūqū l-ʿadhāba bimā kuntum takfurūna

And their prayer at the House [i.e., the Kaʿbah] was not except whistling and handclapping. So taste the punishment for what you disbelieved [i.e., practiced of deviations].(35)
