Surah Al-Anfal, Ayah 68 (8:68)

ٱلْأَنْفَال

لَّوْلَا كِتَٰبٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ سَبَقَ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَآ أَخَذْتُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

Quran 8:68 is ayah 68 of Surah Al-Anfal (“The Spoils of War”), a Medinan surah of 75 ayahs. It is in Juz 10, on page 185 of the Madani Mushaf.

لَّوْلَاكِتَٰبٌمِّنَٱللَّهِسَبَقَلَمَسَّكُمْفِيمَآأَخَذْتُمْعَذَابٌعَظِيمٌ٦٨
lawlā kitābun mina l-lahi sabaqa lamassakum fīmā akhadhtum ʿadhābun ʿaẓīmun

If not for a decree from Allāh that preceded, you would have been touched for what you took by a great punishment.(68)
