Surah Al-Ma'idah, Ayah 108 (5:108)

ٱلْمَائِدَة

ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰٓ أَن يَأْتُوا۟ بِٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهَآ أَوْ يَخَافُوٓا۟ أَن تُرَدَّ أَيْمَٰنٌۢ …

Quran 5:108 is ayah 108 of Surah Al-Ma'idah (“The Table Spread”), a Medinan surah of 120 ayahs. It is in Juz 7, on page 125 of the Madani Mushaf.

5:108
ذَٰلِكَأَدْنَىٰٓأَنيَأْتُوا۟بِٱلشَّهَٰدَةِعَلَىٰوَجْهِهَآأَوْيَخَافُوٓا۟أَنتُرَدَّأَيْمَٰنٌۢبَعْدَأَيْمَٰنِهِمْ ۗوَٱتَّقُوا۟ٱللَّهَوَٱسْمَعُوا۟ ۗوَٱللَّهُلَايَهْدِىٱلْقَوْمَٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ١٠٨
dhālika adnā an yatū bil-shahādati ʿalā wajhihā aw yakhāfū an turadda aymānun baʿda aymānihim wa-ittaqū l-laha wa-is'maʿū wal-lahu lā yahdī l-qawma l-fāsiqīna

That is more likely that they will give testimony according to its [true] objective, or [at least] they would fear that [other] oaths might be taken after their oaths. And fear Allāh and listen [i.e., obey Him]; and Allāh does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.(108)

  17. وَٱسْمَعُوا۟ ۗwa-is'maʿūand listen
  18. وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuand Allah
  19. لَاlā(does) not
  20. يَهْدِىyahdīguide
  21. ٱلْقَوْمَl-qawmathe people
  22. ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَl-fāsiqīnathe defiantly disobedient
