Surah Al-Ma'idah, Ayah 77 (5:77)

ٱلْمَائِدَة

قُلْ يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَا تَغْلُوا۟ فِى دِينِكُمْ غَيْرَ ٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَ …

Quran 5:77 is ayah 77 of Surah Al-Ma'idah (“The Table Spread”), a Medinan surah of 120 ayahs. It is in Juz 6, on page 120 of the Madani Mushaf.

قُلْيَٰٓأَهْلَٱلْكِتَٰبِلَاتَغْلُوا۟فِىدِينِكُمْغَيْرَٱلْحَقِّوَلَاتَتَّبِعُوٓا۟أَهْوَآءَقَوْمٍقَدْضَلُّوا۟مِنقَبْلُوَأَضَلُّوا۟كَثِيرًاوَضَلُّوا۟عَنسَوَآءِٱلسَّبِيلِ٧٧
qul yāahla l-kitābi lā taghlū fī dīnikum ghayra l-ḥaqi walā tattabiʿū ahwāa qawmin qad ḍallū min qablu wa-aḍallū kathīran waḍallū ʿan sawāi l-sabīli

Say, "O People of the Scripture, do not exceed limits in your religion beyond the truth and do not follow the inclinations of a people who had gone astray before and misled many and have strayed from the soundness of the way."(77)
