Surah Ali 'Imran, Ayah 40 (3:40)

آلِ عِمْرَان

قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى غُلَٰمٌ وَقَدْ بَلَغَنِىَ ٱلْكِبَرُ وَٱمْرَأَتِى عَاقِرٌ ۖ قَالَ …

Quran 3:40 is ayah 40 of Surah Ali 'Imran (“Family of Imran”), a Medinan surah of 200 ayahs. It is in Juz 3, on page 55 of the Madani Mushaf.

قَالَرَبِّأَنَّىٰيَكُونُلِىغُلَٰمٌوَقَدْبَلَغَنِىَٱلْكِبَرُوَٱمْرَأَتِىعَاقِرٌ ۖقَالَكَذَٰلِكَٱللَّهُيَفْعَلُمَايَشَآءُ٤٠
qāla rabbi annā yakūnu lī ghulāmun waqad balaghaniya l-kibaru wa-im'ra-atī ʿāqirun qāla kadhālika l-lahu yafʿalu mā yashāu

He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when I have reached old age and my wife is barren?" He [the angel] said, "Such is Allāh; He does what He wills."(40)
