غَافِر

فَلَمْ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمْ إِيمَٰنُهُمْ لَمَّا رَأَوْا۟ بَأْسَنَا ۖ سُنَّتَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ فِى …

Quran 40:85 is ayah 85 of Surah Ghafir (“The Forgiver”), a Meccan surah of 85 ayahs. It is in Juz 24, on page 476 of the Madani Mushaf.

40:85
فَلَمْيَكُيَنفَعُهُمْإِيمَٰنُهُمْلَمَّارَأَوْا۟بَأْسَنَا ۖسُنَّتَٱللَّهِٱلَّتِىقَدْخَلَتْفِىعِبَادِهِۦ ۖوَخَسِرَهُنَالِكَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ٨٥
falam yaku yanfaʿuhum īmānuhum lammā ra-aw basanā sunnata l-lahi allatī qad khalat fī ʿibādihi wakhasira hunālika l-kāfirūna

But never did their faith benefit them once they saw Our punishment. [It is] the established way of Allāh which has preceded among His servants. And the disbelievers thereupon lost [all].(85)
